Theobald Kopp wird am 6. September 1892 in Bessarabien (Krasna) als siebtes von elf Kindern geboren. Seine Eltern sind Simon Kopp und Elisabetha Gross. Sein Großvater Anton Kopp ist ein deutscher Sielder aus Bayern. Auf blacksegr.org findet ihr die →Daten zu Theodor Kopp und seinen →Stammbaum. 1916 erhält er die Priesterweihe. Ab 1917 ist er Priester in der Kolonie Karlsruhe und ab 1924 in der Nachbarkolonie Katharinental.

1928 kommt er dann in die Pfarrei Straßburg nach Odessa. Später werden unter Stalin katholische Priester massiv verfolgt. Nach vielen Verhören beschuldigt man Kopp 1935, Briefe mit dem Ausland geschrieben zu haben. Er kommt ins Gefängnis, wird dann nach Magadan geschickt (ca. 5.900 km östlich von Moskau) und stirbt dort 1943 im Gulag (Straf- und Arbeitslager).



He is born on September 6, 1892 in Bessarabia (Krasna) as the seventh of eleven children. His parents are Simon Kopp and Elisabetha Gross. His grandfather Anton Kopp is a German settler from Bavaria. In 1916 he is ordained a priest. From 1917 on, he practices as a priest in the Karlsruhe colony and from 1924 on in the neighboring colony of Katharinental.

In 1928 he comes to the parish of Strasbourg in Odessa. Later, under Stalin, Catholic priests are massively persecuted. After many interrogations, Kopp is accused in 1935 of writing letters abroad. He is sent to prison, then sent to Magadan (approx. 5,900 km east of Moscow) and dies there in 1943 in the Gulag (penal and labor camp).
